Director of Portfolio Management and Risk

About the Role

The Director of Portfolio Management and risk will work with the Management Committee in assessing and evaluating portfolio risk, developing investment perspectives, and assisting in the management of the investment team. The position will report to the Chief Investment Officer.

Areas of Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management

  • Develop and manage project pipeline and firm-wide calendar deliverables for review by investment committee.
  • Manage live project execution, including development of appropriate deliverables
  • Utilize knowledge of project management tools including software or other tracking systems.
  • Actively make recommendations for process improvement and management of the team.
  • Refine and enhance process for execution and serve as senior liaison to ensure consistency in post-close deal matters.
  • Select and manage vendor relations (legal, accounting firms) that are shared across investment teams ensuring consistency and expense management.
  • Oversee and mentor investment professionals to help optimize team skills and capabilities.
  • Oversee team resources and provide management of investment process to drive efficiencies.

Portfolio Risk

  • Provide strategic and data driven insights and direction to the investment team on portfolio risk.
  • Create tools, dashboards and other risk metrics as a shared platform for the TRP investment professionals
  • Lead and manage timelines for deal-related communications to investment committee for review which includes assessment of portfolio risk weightings, sector guidelines and relative value risk/return analysis.

External Market Relations

  • Develop and maintain capital markets relationships for streamlined coverage on banks and other counterparties which are relevant for portfolio company related financings or fund level needs.
  • Develop and maintain unique sources of information to help analyze companies and other databases relevant for production and completion of projects.

Job Requirements

  • Significant experience in the capital markets, preferably in buy-side credit.
  • Superior project management performance and strong decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team, which includes the ability to be flexible and adaptable.

  • 10-15 years of asset management experience is required
  • Excel at interpreting data, recognizing trends and themes, and making recommendations
  • Outstanding communication, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Open-minded and ability to work with wide variety of individuals
  • Demonstrated skills and relationships with banks, lenders, investors and counterparties
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications
